Wow, over a week has gone by since I blogged last? Holy moly
there is a lot to catch up on! So, I
know you were wondering who ended up taking care of Gracie this past weekend
while I was gone, after reading my blog, my cousins Sarah and Nathan offered to
take her (ya, there was no way I would turn Gracie loose on them) so the lucky
peeps who got to spend good quality time with the “G” were my parents! Yay for Super Mom and Super Dad for saving
me over 100 bucks in doggie daycare and no I did not pay them, but I did get
this lovely text message from my sister………..
However I was knee deep in margarita’s at the time and I did
not really care what was going on at home!
My weekend was fun, I spent the weekend in Santa Barbara at
Leadbetter beach, this was the last weekend that I was a Novice for DOCC and I
have now moved up to the Open Women’s team, I feel like such a big girl
now! This being our last weekend as
Novice the Open Men & Open Women picked out costumes for us to wear during
our races, ya, everyone looked really great.
Oh, and I almost forgot, DOCC brought home the first place trophy for
the sprint series! This was the first
race that my boat did not win a medal, but I won a sun visor for my efforts in
the Novice Scavenger Hunt that we had to do, so it was not a total bust of a
race. The Open Women have been awesome to
practice with so far, I have heard from several different sources that they
have been talking about me (all good things), they better stop soon or my head
is going to get so big, it is going to make the boat huli. Our club is hosting the first 9man race of
the season this weekend, we will be paddling from Dana Point to the Main Beach
in Laguna, about 21 miles round trip.
This ought to be interesting, not sure if I will be doing the changes or
not, but keep your fingers crossed that I do not run over any of my teammates
when picking them up, I am kind of nervous about this. I practiced a change yesterday, I kind of
messed up, the gunnel is really slippery without wax on it or without gloves
on, I was bummed that it did not go very well, I brought my old sailing gloves
out of retirement today, so there is always next time. Here are some pics from the weekend, you can see us in our lovely costumes, I would have more pics but I cannot seem to locate my camera at the moment, oh well!
On Sunday, I hurried home to pick up the pup from the
parents house, drove home to my house, unpacked the car, gave the dog a bath,
did some laundry , showered and it was off to work, whew! It is Summer Concert season in RSM, so my
Sunday’s have been consumed with work, however I am not complaining, I am very
thankful for my job and that my hours of working involve moving a few tables,
hanging out with my family and sitting in my beach chair, one can hardly say it
is rough. Ryan and Shannon have been
joining us and sweet little Caroline, is just way to cute for words. It is bad, but I cannot stop taking pictures
of her, all the poor child is going to remember of her Auntie Erin is some
crazy lady with a camera in her hand, saying “say cheese”!
The Community Center has been a fright all week and it is
only Tuesday! OMG, the public is going to drive me to drink someday soon
between the live Rainbow Bright doll (so bummed, I deleted her photo) that walked through the front door, the senior
who parks on the sidewalk on a regular basis, the gal with dementia who comes
in everyday trying to buy taxi vouchers, but doesn’t know where she needs to go
and asks us the same questions every day and summer camps, it is kind of nutty.
I discovered that I only chew my food on the right side of
my mouth (I know you all wanted to know that), I might of mentioned that I had
to get my very first real filling where they actually had to drill (I had one
once before to fill a weird divot in my tooth to prevent a cavity minus the
drilling) the other day, I was so bummed to have a cavity, well something
happened to the filling yesterday, either it broke or fell out and now my tooth
hurts like nobody’s business anytime I eat or drink anything. I have to wait till Thursday at 11am to go
in and have it looked at, I am dreading every moment of that repair, so in the
meantime I think I am going to avoid food and drink and try and lose 5lbs and
probably raise my blood pressure to near stroke level in the process of
waiting!
Poor little sweet Gracie has a bad ear infection, she just
keeps scratching her ear so much that she has created all kinds of sores on and
in her ear. I am torn, do I take her to
the Vet or do I let it pass (they normally go away on their own)? She hates when you touch her ears especially
when they hurt and the only way to put any medication in them is to lay on top
of her and pray that she does not bite your face in the process. I have been giving her Benadryl to help with
the itchiness but I think she might need an antibiotic, but I am not sure if I
will be able to give it to her and we all know she HATES going to the Vet these
days, so getting her into the office is an ordeal in itself. Oh the joys of life!
Well, I think I have caught up on all of the happenings in
my life as of today, it has been a fun week, but I could really use a nap!
