Today's Paddle!

Last night I got my new Garmin all set-up and ready to use for today.  Yesterday I mentioned that I was a little intimidated by this thing, but after using it today it is pretty straight forward, I only have one thing at the moment that I either need to learn how to use or how to turn off, other than that it seems to be pretty awesome.  Below is a link to today's work out (I have no idea how it will look to my readers), it shows our average speed, our top speed, distance, my heart rate and a few other things.  We did 3 - 25 minute pieces with 3 minutes of rest in between and some other stuff that I cannot seem to remember.  Based on the line-up of paddlers in my boat it seemed as if the odds were stacked against us considering we did not have an experienced seat 1(stroker) but we did pretty darn good and I am very pleased with our effort and workout that we got today.

I Lived to Tell About It!

Today started out on a very shaky note and I was close to going to cry fest 2013 by 8am.  I woke up, showered and walked out to this......

Umm, really Gracie?  Puppyhood was over almost 4 years ago!  BAD Dog!

Then I took Gracie out to go to the bathroom and something sticky and gross falls from the sky onto my freshly washed and dried hair (this is a big deal people, I dried my hair today, it takes forever to DRY my hair and now I have shit in it, great!) and down the front on my glasses and on my face, FANTASTIC!

I drop Gracie off at camp and head to starbucks only to discover after this happened yesterday.......

(Yep, it looks way worse in person, so bad I had to buy a new phone.) that my Starbucks app on my new phone does not work and I cannot remember the username or password and I am about to die right in the middle of Starbucks cause I need my COFFEE!  In the midst of my coffee troubles work is texting me about banners and stupid stuff and I am in no mood to deal with such nonsense.

I run back to my car to grab some money and I now have coffee in my system and at that moment I just might of heard all the angels in heaven singing!

I now drive to HB to drop my car off for some servicing, if I recall correctly I never posted my rant about RSM Honda and how they wanted to charge me $30 f-ing dollars for a brake light when instead I went to Kragen, bought two for $8 and replaced it myself for FREE.  Anyways, I took my car in today for all of the normal maintenance that I would not let RSM Honda rip me off for.  Super Mom picked me up and we hung out together for the day.  We went to Tanaka Farms for some fruits and veggies, we lunched at the Cheesecake Factory and braved the scary parking lot full of scary crack head people all in the name of a Honey Baked Ham for Easter dinner.

Now fast forward a few hours and my sister has announced that we will be celebrating the Christmas Holiday in Hawaii this year! Ok, cool, the day is starting to look brighter!  Super Mom drops me off so I can pick up my car and when I go to pay they tell me it is FREE!  What?  No way? Are you sure? are all of the words that are coming out of my mouth, I cannot seem to wrap my little brain around this concept and I keep telling the guy that there is some kind of mistake.  After a few minutes I finally grasp this and I walk out of there knowing I just saved $105 on a car maintenance, HOT DAMN, they must of know yesterday was my half birthday!!

I go to pick up Gracie from camp and as I am chatting with the ladies who work there they told my they had an Easter egg hunt with the pups that were there today.  I guess they hid treats in plastic eggs or something like that, I am not sure how it all went down but as long as Gracie is not pooping out plastic tomorrow it is all good with me!  They also played bubbles with the dogs, I am excited to see all of the pictures they took posted on their website soon!  Sounds like Gracie had a good afternoon too and she is currently passed out, my favorite part of camp.....the tired dog.

And now for the encore of my day I am off to the mailbox, I have not checked my mail in oh maybe two to three weeks, so heres to hoping the mailman has not taken it back to the post office.

Happy Friday Everyone!

Happy 1/2 Birthday to ME!

Happy 1/2 Birthday to ME!!
Yep, today is my big 34.5 birthday, wooohoooo partay!!!  Remember a few days ago when I posted this??  Well the parents said NO!  Can you believe that?   Actually it was more of my Mom saying "in your dreams, we just had our taxes done and we owe big time" and Super Dad, used the ole "I'm putting money in a parking meter and running into a meeting, but that sounds like a really neat watch, I will talk to you later" line and ya, we talked later but for some odd reason he never agreed to buy it for me, SO NOT FAIR, I did not really expect them to buy it for me, but it does not hurt to ask!  Well, guess what the half birthday fairy sent me this a few days ago.......

and this is what was inside......

AWESOME!

Nope, the parents did not buy it for me, but I am so excited I bought it for myself after finding a AWESOME deal at Costco! I have to admit I am slightly intimidated by this thing, it does so much and requires some set-up, but the folks at Garmin were kind enough to send me an instruction book in five different languages so I should be able to figure it out. I am hoping to get it up and running tomorrow so I can use it at practice on Saturday.

Happy 1/2 Birthday to ME!

Making Progress!

Today was Time Trial #2 and it was better then the first one!  This one I was able to complete it in 28.40 (I think, still waiting for the official results), I was kind of bummed that I did not go faster, but I was really really really sore from practice yesterday and when I made my first turn down the channel I was already exhausted.  So note to self next time I will skip practice the day before so I can do better.  I spent the rest of the day like this.....

Snack of champions!

Time Trials!

Paddling Paddling Paddling, when will it ever end??  Lol!  Today we had time trials for paddling, basically the way it works is everyone is on their own/borrowed OC-1 or in my case on a tank, we paddle a set course and see how fast we each go, this determines if you are in a fast or slow boat on race day. This was my first time trial ever, most of the people on my team have done them several times, so I really had no expectations besides to survive it, stay upright and make it in under 30 minutes. The course is about 2 miles long (I think), we launched right off baby baby beach, paddled to the first red buoy outside of the channel and back, a very simple course.  I am happy to report I survived, stayed up right and made it in 29 minutes 11 seconds (not really worth mentioning, I was the fourth slowest paddler out of the group of people who came out today, holds paddle down in shame), oh well, like I said I had no expectations and it can only get better from here, I think next time I am going to borrow a lighter boat and see if that makes a difference!

A couple of the boats after the time trials, someday mine will look as pretty as theirs!

Just a note to my fellow motorists on the 5 freeway, I am already a little nervous driving 65-70mph with my boat strapped to the roof of my car, so in the future please do not point and stare at me/my car/my boat unless there is a problem, cause you all FREAK me out when you do that, plus the thought of pulling to the side of the freeway to make sure everything is A-OK does not really turn me on.  Thanks so much, signed the blond girl with a huge boat on her car.  :)

Dinner with the Boys!!

Cole's school had a silent auction the other night and my sister was awesome enough to bid on this for my birthday.........

Yep, you all read that right, dinner with the boys in blue at station #44 in Los Angeles (you know.....that is the city where the calendars come from) with five of my closest friends and a ride on the fire truck, can you say "I think I might need a little CPR"?  Hot damn, that would of been the bestest birthday present ever, sadly she did not win, some jerk had to bid $700 for it.  Maybe if they read this blog post and feel sad for me they will invite me over anyways, heck I would even cook for them (it would probably burn cause I would be sooooo distracted)!  Thanks Kathy for thinking of me!

Where all my time goes!

I think this post should be titled "Life Lately Part Two" or "Life is kinda busy", I was giving the parents a recap of life lately and why I have not called or come over to their house in almost two weeks and it is not even like I am going a million different directions.  Here is the schedule of my life as of right now.......

Monday-

5am - up and in the shower
6am - ready for work and outside walking Gracie
6:30am- out the door on my way to the Mother Ship aka Starbucks, no time for breakfast at some so
   coffee it is.
   7am- arrive to work
   12pm - lunch
   4:45pm -change clothes for paddling
5pm- speeding out of RSM to catch the freeway that is about 15-20 mins away.
   5:30pm -arrive to paddling practice
8:30pm - head home from practice (time change on Monday, so we practice later).
9pm- home, shower, take Gracie out and make lunch for next day (hoping to make enough for both lunch
   & dinner).
   9:30pm- bed

Tuesday-

5am - up and and dressed for swim practice
6am - jump into cold pool (Good Morning!)
7am- out of pool, dry off, get coffee and go home.
7:30am- shower and get ready for work
   8:30am- eat breakfast
   8:45am- walk Gracie
   9am- leave for work
   9:30am- arrive to work
   4pm - lunch break
   7:30pm -go home
   8pm- arrive home
   8:30pm -walk Gracie
9pm- make lunch for next day (again hoping to make enough for both lunch & dinner).
   9:30pm- bed

Wednesday-

   Repeat Monday's schedule!

Thursday-

   Repeat Tuesday's schedule!

Friday-

I have every other Friday off so it just depends.  If I work I am there by 8am and off at 5pm and if I am off, I am out paddling or doing something that requires a ridiculous amount of energy and I am ready for bed by 8pm.

Saturday-

5:30am - up and dressing for paddling practice
   6am - coffee
   6:30am- arrive to practice
7-10am- paddling and putting boats away.
10:30am- arrive home, shower and eat.
   11:30am- walk Gracie
12:30pm- collapse on couch and wonder why they heck am I so tired, considering going back to Starbucks for more coffee.
5pm- think I can muster up some energy and go out with friends
10pm- home and tucked into my bed, I am old and I need sleep.

Sunday-

Think about all the stuff I should be doing like laundry, grocery shopping and cleaning my house, but I lack serious motivation and convince myself that I can find some clean clothes deep in the back of my closet that match and will be ok to wear to work the following week, remind myself there is a good chance that no one will be visiting my house so it is ok not to dust or sweep the floors for a few more days and that I can do my grocery shopping on my lunch break on Monday so I will not starve.  And then I resume my position on my couch in front of the TV and enjoy my day of rest, until I realize my car is on empty and I am out of dog food and then it is out the door to be a responsible adult, ugh, I need an assistant!

I am so not complaining here cause I am choosing to do everything listed above, well maybe almost everything, cause the whole work thing could be avoided if I could only marry rich or win the lottery, I am thinking the odds are better at winning the lottery, I best go buy a ticket or two!  Socially I am learning to fly by the seat of my pants and do things as they come up and if I have a free moment to do them, so much for being a planner anymore! Lol!

Oh and one more thought......really day light savings starts tomorrow???  What the heck, I cannot afford to spring forward, I do not want to lose any sleep, I swear last year it took me months to adjust to the spring forward thing, ugh!!!  However, it is really nice to have the sun out more, so I guess I will be forced to get over it, blah!!!  I think I need a mental health day soon!

Life Lately!

Hi Everyone!  Remember me, I am the person that used to update this blog on a regular basis?  I guess things have been busy, cause it feels like an eternity since I last updated this thing.  I had to go through my phone and look at the pictures to remind what I did all week, now that is just sad!

Last Sunday, I sorta engaged myself in an Instagram war with my nephew Cole, how can that be, he is only 7?  I posted this picture......

isn't it the cutest?  Well, he saw it on Instagram and called me freaking out/laughing, it was so funny and so nice to talk to him on the phone, I love that he is growing up and we have stuff to talk about on the phone!  Anyways, he threatened to call Grammy and have her send him some pictures of me as a toddler that he could post, I then warned him I have more of these pictures of him, so I do no think he will be posting any of me anytime soon!

Speaking of Instagram, I posted this picture the other day, yes I am very proud of myself, so I am reposting it on here!

Those are size 8 pants folks!  I have been a 12 for sooooo long, so I am super stoked that they fit!

My Mom gave this to me the other day from one of her Mary Englebreight calendars, so true!

I saw this on Facebook the other day, all I can say is I HATE algebra and I just about died laughing when I saw this......

I went paddling yesterday morning, it was the most perfect day at the beach and I loved every minute of it!  Can it get any better than this........?  BTW, it was 85 degrees today, I love warm weather, HELLO Spring!

I borrowed this photo from the DOCC page.

I had to take Gracie to the Vet today for a shot, we were both dreading it.  She was super stressed out there, but there was no barf and she only tried to bolt for the front door twice, so I considered it a good visit!  As a reward for her good behavior I cleaned out her dog house for her, there may or may not of been Christmas lights stashed in there since January, oops!

And I have finally caved and decided to get serious in the fight against acne!  Dude, it sucks having acne and I have tried just about everything to get rid of it, so I am hoping and praying with the combination of these three drugs, I will soon have clear skin, fingers crossed cause puberty was over about 20 years ago!

lame picture would not rotate.
And, I think I have covered most of life right now!

Shoot, I forgot to add this.......

Just a few of my gal pals and I  having dinner together last night!  There is nothing better than a lot of  pasta, wine and ice cream with great friends on a Friday night, thank you Ricki for having us over!  :)
