Birthday Recap!

With the shock of my 33rd birthday just about gone I am able to share with everyone the great day I had!  My morning started off with sleeping in until Gracie could no longer go another minute without eating and I had to get up and feed the monster.  I got dressed to take the little monster for a walk and decided to use my free birthday drink coupon for a morning white mocha.

Oh good morning!
So sorry, no make-up on (scary!).

After our morning coffee walk I caught Gracie up to no good again doing this......

OMG Gracie!  Seriously what is your obsession with my stinky shoes?

My birthday breakfast!

For lunch my Mom and I headed to the Cheesecake Factory for lunch, as usual we split the cobb salad and split a piece of cheesecake.  It was a crazy birthday day at the Cheesecake Factory, we heard them sing Happy Birthday at least five times while we were there.

So after both breakfast and lunch I have definitely exceeded my allotted calories for the day!

But wait there still is dinner and birthday cake!

My birthday dinner!

Updating my facebook status with a picture of my cake!

Reading my cousin Melissa's facebook comment regarding the cake...see below.

We all laughed when she sent it since it was mid cake eating!

Super Dad getting all artsy with the camera.

Trying to solve my math problem, I kept getting 27 & 54!

My favorite part!

Start singing everyone!

I wanted to get a video from the candle blower outers view point.

I cannot blow out candles and video at the same time.

Oh geez, I think the sugar just hit my system!

And the best part of it all besides spending the day with my family, my birthday present....

All loaded up and ready to go home!

Thanks Mom and Dad for a GREAT birthday!!

Club 33

Yep, that is right today is my BIRTHDAY!

Happy Birthday to ME and here is to a GREAT 33 (I know really cheesy)!

This cake is kind of cool, I wonder if Super Mom will be making one of these?
And, if she can make me 25 again even better!

Pre Birthday Fun!

I have decided to honor my 33rd birthday (ugh, that sounds so old) and celebrate it as much as I can this week!  So in the spirit of turning 33 years old Super Dad wanted to buy me a new bike, the old cruiser is just no match for the hills around my house and according to Super Dad I am joining some Irvine bike club (I was just hoping for some leisurely bike rides with friends and family).  Anyways, Super Dad, Super Mom and I headed over to the Discovery Bike in Huntington Beach for an afternoon of bike shopping and enjoyed ourselves as we rode around in circles testing out the bikes and perusing the racks of bike bells!
Getting the seat adjusted!

I tested a couple bikes to see which one I liked better!

Just riding around in circles!

I look so serious!

Super Dad wanted in on the fun too!

After all of the bike riding and bell shopping we worked us up an appetite and Super Mom made a fantastic dinner for us on Sunday night, you know a little pre birthday dinner in honor of birthday week!

Yum Yum, it was soooo good!

Thanks Super Dad and Super Mom for the bike for my birthday, I can wait to go for a ride with you guys!

So Sweet!

How sweet is this picture?  My little nephew came home sick yesterday from school and missed his soccer game today, but his little sister wanted to make sure that he was well taken care of so she tucked her baby under his blanket while he slept and brought out her doctor kit to help him feel better!  So SWEET!  Poor little Cole, he does not look like he feels good at all, get well soon buddy!

A Sisterly Birthday!

September is a busy month for the family when it comes to birthdays!  My sister Kathy's birthday is on September 7th, sister in-law Shannon's is on September 11th and mine is on September 28th, so it only makes sense to celebrate them together with one cake and one birthday dinner.  This past weekend we gathered at the Mudry estate for dinner, cake and presents, just for documentation purposes my Mom tried to burn the house down while BBQing tri-tip (I'm still mad I did not have my camera handy) and we darn near had to break out a fire extinguisher, but the good news is that super dad was able to rescue our dinner from the flames!  Anyways, we all gathered together and once dinner was done, we moved on to presents and then to birthday cake and all was well!

Uncle Ryan, Cole & Mari putting the candles on the cake!

The math problem, it is tradition, you must figure out the math problem that equals your age before we light the candles. This year our cousins Katie & Darrell did the math problem, it equals to all three of our ages!

The best part of this video is that we all think my Mom is trying to take a picture but instead it is still recording.

The rest of the video!

Mr. Serious

Mr. Smiley!

The best shot I could get of the Ferguson Foursome!

Mari was not up to having her photo taken!

Caroline having a power nap before cake on my Mom's lap!

For once, I just do not have the words to describe this!
Poor Caroline, she loves her Grampy so much that she lets him style her hair.

Happy Birthday to my FAVORITE sister and sister in-law!!

Making Progress!

Super Dad has been very busy with the Casa de Mudry remodel and room additions and progress is being made as we speak!  The good news is that the work done so far has passed the first inspection and my Mom's office addition now has concrete poured and the project is scheduled to have the rest of the concrete poured next Satuday!

Office addition, I guess you keep the concrete wet to keep if from cracking as it sets.

Super Dad hiding from the camera in his super turquoise outfit, he is such a fashionista!

Steel that arrived this week, 1 guy carried each piece (120lbs.) in by himself!

More pics to come next week as the project moves on!

New Bling!

This week Gracie got some new bling aka a new collar and she looks so cute!   It all started when she was a puppy and my sister got her the cutest collar and leash as a puppy present.  Gracie wore that collar for a long long time until I could no longer wash it and make it look pretty again.  After that I have only bought her collars from Up Country Inc. (click here), they have the cutest collars and they are the best quality out there. Gracie has been the proud owner of several of their collars over the past three years and she always looks sooooo cute.  This past week I bought her a new cupcake collar and again she looks soooo cute with it on!

Hats off to you!

I was at my parents house the other day and I noticed this.....

I nearly died of laughter when I saw that his name and phone number were inside his hat!

Oh, Super Dad, you crack me up!

Silver Lightening Bolts!

It is official, soccer season has begun and my favorite nephew is back on the field!  Yep, it looks like Auntie Erin will be scheduling her social life around the Silver Lightening Bolts schedule for the next two and a half months, so don't be offended when I tell you I cannot make it to a Saturday outing cause it is game on in South Pasadena!

How cute is he?

Cole & Zac, BFF's!

Right before Zac scores the only goal for the Bolts!

Such a bad Aunt for uploading this video, but he did it twice and everytime I watched it I could not help but laugh.

Please ignore the screaming Aunt in the background, I was having serious self control issues and it was all I could do not to run in there and play with them!

It was so much fun, I cannot wait till next Saturday, see you on the field.  Oh gosh, I am starting to sound like one of those "soccer aunts"!

GO TEAM!

Cake Pop Tragedy

A few months ago I made some cake pops for a family gathering and they turned out pretty darn good for my first time!  Well, my Aunt loved them and asked me to make them for her for a family gathering she was having this past weekend, I thought no problem this should be a piece of cake, ha ha ha!  Knowing that these puppies take awhile to make I decided that I would make them the weekend before and freeze them until I was able to get them to her.  Boy O Boy!!, all I have to say is it was pretty much downhill hill from the get go!

Below is the timeline of the disaster....

  • Aunt requests yellow candy coating, all the store has is blue.
  • I melt candy coating and somehow screw it up!
  • Candy coating is fixed with a lil crisco, gross!
  • All goes well and they look perfect!
  • Transport them home, they have a few issues on the way home but nothing too major.
  • Place cake pops in freezer for safe keeping.
  • Power goes out for HOURS, I panic, I leave work early to go rescue cake pops (Ya, try explaining that one to your boss).
  • Pack up dog and cake pops and head to the parents house.
  • Cake pops are defrosting (OH NO!!!!) and sprinkles are starting to run (Double OH NO!).
  • Cake pops go back into freezer and start to crack (Too much freezing and defrosting).
  • Take cake pops back home once the power is back on.
  • Cake pops look like HELL.
  • Aunt picks up cake pops, I apologize for their appearance, she is polite and says they look GREAT!
Before!

After!

Ya, they look like CRAP!
So SAD, sniff, sniff, tear! :(

It was a total cake pop tragedy!

Hot Night and Black Out Tonight!

If the really HOT weather in Aliso Viejo was not bad enough, well then the MAJOR power outage was!  Thursday afternoon was your typical afternoon in the OC until the power went out and everyone and their country cousin was out on the road either trying to get home or trying to get out of town, I was one of them trying to get home to rescue the contents of my refrigerator and the delicate cake pops that I made for my Aunt for a family gathering that she is hosting on Saturday out of my freezer.  Traffic was a nightmare at 6pm and it took me a solid hour to get home from Rancho Santa Margarita, with every single traffic signal out, the pure chaos of  the driving skills of the public (don't they know to treat all intersections as four way stops) and three accidents along the way.  This power outage has stretched down to Mexico and across to Arizona with the possibility of it being caused by one worker in Arizona (yet to be confirmed), dude he or she will be in the unemployment line tomorrow.

Anyways, had it not been 90 + degrees in my house and no breeze there was no chance I was going to be staying the night!  My good friend Carrie offered for me to crash at their house (lucky, they have power and they live 5 mins away, crazy how the power grids are laid out), but with Gracie and her two little boys I politely declined due to the fact that both Brayden and Gracie are crazy and I did not need to risk Gracie eating some small toy or getting a hold of a precious blankie or anything like that.  So, I headed to Huntington Beach to stay with my parents and the cool air (I almost feel the need for a jacket).

I tried to get a couple of photo's of all of the commotion but was not too successful, but you might of seen us on the nightly news, apparently it is big news when a couple counties go dark!  Best of luck to all of the SDG&E workers, you are going to have a long night ahead of you, but hey it is probably double time at this point so you all should have a nice paycheck next week!  Thanks for all of your hard work and until then I will be crashing at the parents house!

Some of the traffic on the other side of the street.

There goes that news van (channel 7)

Channel 5, we are now famous, nothing happens in this part of town.

Project Remodel

Project remodel has begun at the Mudry household!  After two new marriages, the birth of three kiddo's and the addition of inlaws to our family it has been determined that our house (mainly the dinning room) is a tad bit to small to fit everyone around the dinner table (yes, at almost 33 years old, I still sit at the kid table).  So the parents have decided that it would be best to add on to the dinning room to accommodate our ever growing family!  So.... Super Dad and his trusty skills have drawn up the plans, got them approved by the city (with the help of an architect of a son in law and his trusty stamp), enlisted the help of some friends and has begun the first stages of construction!

Proof he is qualified, one of his old signs from way back in the day!

Where the patio cover used to be, I wish I had before pics handy.

If only he had let me do some of the painting, how much fun that would of been!

Concrete is gone and we are he is making good progress.

While we are at it, why not add on to the other side of the house!

The addition to Mom's office!

Gracie tying to lick the orange spray paint off of a piece of wood in the ground, she has some weird obsession of licking wet paint.

More pictures and updates to come as Super Dad continues this project!
